Can you believe 2023 is almost a wrap? As our team at Event 360 navigated the landscape of peer-to-peer fundraising events this year, we picked up some important lessons. We believe these insights can help improve how we plan events, engage with people, and overall, boost success in the nonprofit world. Without further ado, here’s a comprehensive look at some of our top takeaways from the year!

  1. Community is Everything Our partner at AIDS Healthcare Foundation put it best: event moments ignite action. Live events offer the unique opportunity for individuals and teams to come together and have a shared experience that celebrates their passion for the cause and inspires further action, whether that’s to raise funds, volunteer time, or participate in vital advocacy. Community plays a pivotal role in sustaining impactful fundraising events and the best P2P fundraising programs build upon their annual events by cultivating year-round relationships, seeking feedback and fostering connections in the off-season.
  1. Preparedness and Adaptability Several of our blogs this year emphasized the necessity of meticulous planning for unpredictable scenarios. From extreme weather conditions to logistical challenges, having well-documented backup plans and swift, customized responses were crucial. Our teams had their plans put to the test this season with weather, shipping delays, and last-minute route changes, but were able to adjust using thoughtful contingency plans. Whew!
  1. Attention to Detail and Innovation If you’ve been following us all year, you may have noticed our blog posts dug a little deeper and provided plenty of tips and tricks for event pros. We highlighted the transformative power of attention to small details and step-by-step instructions on perfecting event signage. From impeccably presented tent signage to seamless event layouts and curated musical backdrops, the devil lies in the details.
  1. Industry Priorities: Collaboration, Community, and Staffing, Staffing, Staffing As we wrap up 2023, it’s interesting to look back and find that the topics on the minds of P2P fundraising pros at an industry conference early in the year held true over the course of the 2023 season. Back in February, our team gleaned valuable insights from the conference, emphasizing collaboration between fundraising and marketing teams, prioritizing community, acknowledging the importance of staffing, and embracing a culture of learning and innovation. We’ve seen all of this play out across multiple organizations and their respective P2P fundraising event series, which tells us that the issues and opportunities facing one nonprofit’s P2P fundraising event are probably shared by others. We look forward to continuing to help tackle these concerns in 2024.

Ultimately, our experiences and insights from 2023 underscore the importance of community, meticulous planning, attention to detail, adaptability, and the power of innovation. Leveraging these lessons can help elevate event planning and production, engagement strategies, and overall impact, propelling your nonprofits toward fundraising goals while fostering lasting connections in your communities.

We hope you had a great year! We can’t wait to see what we’ll learn together in 2024.
