team360 Spotlight: Meet Mackenzie D.

team360 is an incredible group of people who live and breathe peer-to-peer fundraising events right alongside us. Without this team, we couldn’t produce the 100+ events on our roster each year. Our latest spotlight highlights a team360 veteran, Mackenzie!

How did you find out about team360? My mom works for Event 360 so  sometimes I’d tag along with her to serve as a volunteer at events and I always love working with her. A few years ago, she suggested I staff an event near me and that’s when I learned about team360. 

What sparked your interest in signing up? I love volunteering for and working on events, so joining team360 allowed me to work more events (and the compensation is a nice perk for sure).

How many events have you worked with team360? Officially, I’ve worked eight events with team360, but I’ve served as a volunteer on many more than that with Event 360 before I officially joined the team.

What are your favorite things about working on team360? I love the energy on event days; everyone is excited to participate in setting up or taking part in the event. There are always incredible stories to hear from people as to why the cause is important to them and it wouldn’t be an event if tears weren’t shed as we’re reminded why we keep fighting for the cures, research, and awareness.

What would you say to someone who is interested in learning more about joining but hesitant? If ever someone were interested in getting into event work, this would be a great team to join to dip your toe in and fall in love with it all. There’s always something to do and people to help out and help you when you need it, ya know, like a team.

Three words to describe team360? Collaborative, fulfilling, flexible.  

Have you learned any new skills? I’m sure I have. Every event, my knowledge grows. It started with learning how to hang a banner on a tent to make it look good, and has grown into taking inventory of signs and supplies, organizing those in the trucks/storage units, tape arrows (skills which, believe it or not, I have used outside of events).

Favorite team360 Memory? It’s honestly hard to choose! The more events I work, the more people I recognize at events, both staff and participants and reuniting is always so sweet! I love seeing an event come together and happen successfully. Most of my favorite memories involve my mom to be totally honest. Though even if she’s not your mom, working on events with her would lead to good memories for you, too. 

What three things do you always carry with you on event? Event book, reading glasses, and zip tie holder!
