It’s approximately 100° and I’m in a warehouse, sweating like you wouldn’t believe, with dirt all over me and in serious need of some water (and a shower). But I just learned how to use a pallet jack and in one week from today, I’ll be a certified forklift operator. This can only mean one thing: It’s event season!
Despite the heat, the sweat, the dirt and everything else, I have a big smile on my face. I’m surrounded by just a small handful of my co-workers and we’re working around the clock to get everything packed up and ready to go for the 2016 Susan G. Komen 3-Day® season. By the time you read this, our trucks will have been packed for a week and just arriving on site to Michigan, where we will kick off with our first event in Detroit. This also happens to be our 150th Komen 3-Day. It’s a party that starts in Michigan and will continue through our final event of the season in San Diego at the end of November.
There are so many new elements that I’m excited about for this year’s 3-Day®. I don’t want to spoil anything, so you’ll have to read all about it once we wrap up the season in a few months – or follow along via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram throughout the season. But trust me when I say it’s going to be another 3-Day season filled with laughter, tears and many life-changing moments – not just for our participants, but also for the staff. Here at Event 360 we’re all very much looking forward to getting back on event and reuniting with our co-workers. We’re so excited to execute all the hard work that has been going on behind the scenes since before we wrapped up last season. We can’t wait for the long hours, the unpredictable weather, the meaningful interactions with our participants and all the fun that will be had – all while getting to work on a meaningful project that helps us work towards our client’s mission to save lives and end breast cancer forever.
