On September 14, our final Mucker for the 2019 season crossed the MuckFest finish line, as they jubilantly rang the bell for a world free of MS at the completion of their 18 obstacle 5K run. Join us in celebrating a year of impact, milestones, and special memories.
Impact: In total, over 16,000 participants rang the bell and raised $2M (and counting!) to end multiple sclerosis forever. Since the series began, over $32 million has been raised for our partners at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, which helps fund research and resources for the more than 2.3 million worldwide living with MS.
Milestones: This was a year of milestones reached, some powerful and mission-driven, and some fun and participant experience-driven. In 2019, a very special Mucker named Cheri completed all five 2019 MuckFest events in honor of her father who passed away from progressive multiple sclerosis in 2018. On the volunteer side, we also had so many incredible volunteers for MuckFest Denver that we had to close volunteer registration early for the first time ever. We also unveiled an epic new obstacle called Muck ‘n’ Roll and involved participants in the naming and branding process. The result? We have a new obstacle regularly listed as a fan favorite.
Special Memories: 2019 was full of memorable moments, from a bride conquering the course with her maid of honor to seeing participants take on a reimagined crowd-favorite obstacle, from special texting conversations via Hustle to last-minute event changes. We also launched a brand new loyalty reward for our multi-year Muckers, so major kudos to anyone you see rocking a green Muck Boss headband.
This Muck Boss, Peter from Philadelphia, summed it up perfectly. His wife lives with MS, and we asked him for his favorite part of MuckFest. While we all have different reasons for why we do what we do, Peter’s answer is spot-on: “It’s simple. The mud and the money to end MS.”
Impact. Milestones. Special memories. As you start to close in on the end of the 2019 event season, what three words stand out to you?
PS: If any of those words are stressed, strained, or understaffed, we want to help.
