We’re excited to introduce this week’s Event 360 Teammate Spotlight. Enjoy a glimpse into the personal and professional life of Melanie Toner!
Position: Crew and Volunteer Coordinator, Susan G. Komen 3-Day®
Start Year: December 2004 (with a few breaks throughout the years)
What job did you hold right before you came to work at Event 360? Program Direct at the Ralston Center, a nonprofit in Philadelphia offering services for aging adults.
Was there anything in particular that brought you to Event 360? Our company’s commitment to causes and dedications to doing great work that has an impact on our communities.
If you weren’t working at Event 360 what would you be doing? Business Coaching for Women Entrepreneurs
Favorite part of your job? My colleagues. The team members I work most with are fellow Crew and Volunteer Coordinators. This group is smart, kind and inspiring. Together we are committed to creating an excellent volunteer experience.
What do you like to do in your free time? As of mother of two young children, I don’t have much time that is not accounted for. But when I do have free time, I like to spend it alone in nature or on my yoga mat.
Most memorable event experience? I love the energy that fills the air just before the Opening Ceremony. As the crew arrives in the dark of the early morning and the sun slowly raises over the horizon to kiss the faces of the smiling participants. There is nothing else like it. There are so many emotions in the moment. For me, it’s a feeling I wish I could bottle.
You’re showing off your hometown to a friend who has never been to visit before. What’s on your must see/do/eat list? The historic district in Old City Philadelphia – so many must see spots in a 4-block radius from the Liberty Bell to Independence Hall; The Philadelphia Museum of Art (if only for to run up the steps), and a sampling of local food spots to indulge in a few cheesesteaks.
On event, what three things are we guaranteed to find in your bag? Chocolate, my journal and lots of lip balm.
One word to describe Event 360? Imaginative
