We’re excited to introduce this month’s Event 360 Teammate Spotlight. Enjoy a glimpse into the personal and professional life of Jason Mahakian.
Name: Jason Mahakian
Position: Graphic Designer
Start Year: 2013
What job did you hold right before you came to work at Event 360?
I worked as a graphic designer at a community college creating designs for internal events.
Was there anything in particular that brought you to Event 360?
I have always loved running and was looking for a company where I could combine that with my passion for design into a career that I would enjoy doing every day. With Event 360 producing mostly endurance events for great causes, it seemed like the perfect fit.
If you weren’t working at Event 360 what would you be doing?
I’d probably be doing design work in some capacity, hopefully somewhere it would have a similar impact.
Favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of this job is getting to see the excitement our participants have when interacting with all of the materials we create both online and on event. I also love seeing the impact that our events have as a whole on our participants, clients and the world.
What do you like to do in your free time?
My wife and I are both avid runners so we spend most of our time training and running road races throughout the year. If we’re not running, I love traveling to warm places, reading graphic novels and watching old episodes of “How I Met Your Mother”.
Most memorable event experience?
My most memorable event experience was at last year’s DAV 5K in Boston. I was the Volunteer Coordinator and had the opportunity to interact with so many passionate people and hear their stories. Hearing about why someone was volunteering or what led them to participate in the event was very inspiring and it was evident how important and impactful this event was to them.
You’re showing off your hometown to a friend who has never been to visit before. What’s on your must see/do/eat list?
I’m currently living in a little city called Plymouth, Michigan and on my list would be to grab dinner at Barrio, my favorite restaurant and then get “Muds” from a local outdoor ice cream shop called Dairy-Go-Round for dessert. We’d also have to check out Kellogg Park on a Friday night during the summer for a free concert and see the fountain in the park’s center.
On event, what three things are we guaranteed to find in your bag?
Snacks, a phone charger and a sketchbook
