We’re excited to introduce this week’s Event 360 Teammate Spotlight. Enjoy a glimpse into the personal and professional life of Staci Roos!
Position: Participant Support Coach, Susan G. Komen 3-Day®
Start Year: 2004
What job did you hold right before you came to work at Event 360? I had a very well-rounded initiation to the event world as an Event Coordinator with an event production and sports marketing company. We produced the San Diego Marathon (now the Carlsbad Marathon), a Race for Literacy Expo and 8K focused on children, a desert to ocean relay and, among several other 5Ks, the Komen San Diego Race for the Cure.
Was there anything in particular that brought you to Event 360? When the opportunity came to join Event 360 and the Komen 3-Day team I knew firsthand how special it was. As a veteran 3-Day® walker, I realized that to recruit and support participants as they take on such a personal and empowering journey would be very fulfilling. It definitely is!
If you weren’t working at Event 360 what would you be doing? I’d be developing programs and managing projects somewhere in the non-profit space. Favorite part of your job? Providing whatever guidance is needed so that I can ultimately witness the transformation of participants as they move from “I don’t know.…” to “I just did!”
What do you like to do in your free time? Just about anything outdoors (run, garden, walk the dog). Conversely, Bikram yoga.
Most memorable event experience? There are so many! Watching runners cross the finish line at the first marathon I staffed. Seeing conference attendees 110% engaged in non-profit problem-solving at the Classy Collaborative. And one of the most special: watching a pregnant breast cancer survivor raise her arms in victory as part of the 3-Day Survivor’s Circle.
You’re showing off your hometown to a friend who has never been to visit before. What’s on your must see/do/eat list? A walk on the beach followed by Mexican food and a margarita or local craft beer.
On event, what three things are we guaranteed to find in your bag? Phone. Sunglasses. ChapStick.
One word to describe Event 360? Genuine.
