Position: Participant Support Coordinator, Susan G. Komen 3-Day®
Start Year: Started as a temporary PT Field Coordinator in 2009
What job did you hold right before you came to work at Event 360? I was a Provider Relations Representative for CIGNA Healthcare handling contracting, claim resolution and provider office education.
Was there anything in particular that brought you to Event 360? I had been a long time 3-Day participant and I loved to help and support other walkers when an opportunity opened that allowed me to do this on a larger scale.
If you weren’t working at Event 360 what would you be doing? I don’t think at this point I would go back to corporate America. If I could I would like to be able to volunteer my time maybe at the local Komen affiliate or with a senior center.
Favorite part of your job? I love inspiring and motivating participants and seeing their excitement grow as they are successful in their fundraising. And then watching new participants experience their first event.
What do you like to do in your free time? I love to read, do a variety of different crafts, golf or simply relax on the back porch swing with my cats.
Most memorable event experience? Oh man, I don’t think I could narrow it down to just one. Each event has a memorable moment. Each event is special. I always look to take away something positive and memorable from each event. Whether it is from an interaction with a participant or a new on-event job that I learned and feel a sense of accomplishment from.
You’re showing off your hometown to a friend who has never been to visit before. What’s on your must see/do/eat list? A drive to the top of South Mountain for a view of Camelback. Or if they are up to it a hike up Camelback. A visit to the Casa Grande Indian Ruins or for a day of local shopping we would head to Old Town Scottsdale.
On event, what three things are we guaranteed to find in your bag? ThermaCare heat wraps, lip balm, flip flops to change out of my shoes as soon as possible (I really hate shoes).
One word to describe Event 360? Kind. Everyone here is so kind and helpful.
