We’re excited to introduce this week’s Event 360 Teammate Spotlight. Enjoy a glimpse into the personal and professional life of Kim Collings!
Position: Field Marketing Coordinator for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day® in San Diego (fancy title for Coach)
Start Year: 2012
What job did you hold right before you came to work at Event 360? Kind of random but I was a Black Jack Dealer for 13 years. It was easy, flexible and gave me time to be with my kids and manage a huge walking team for the Komen 3-Day.
Was there anything in particular that brought you to Event 360? I started walking in the 3-Day® in 2010 and fell in love with everything about it. I knew right away I wanted to work for Event 360 and on the 3-Day project. It took three years of stalking, begging and hoping before a position became available.
If you weren’t working at Event 360 what would you be doing? I would likely go full-time in to Real Estate. It’s a career I have wanted to pursue for a long time.
Favorite part of your job? Being able to help people every day whether it is a co-worker or a participant. And watching the magic happen throughout the year because of the 3-Day community.
What do you like to do in your free time? I love spending time with my husband, hiking with friends and my dog Oliver, cooking a meal from a new recipe, and I love to entertain friends and family often. Thanks to my recent role of caboose in Atlanta I will now be taking up biking more often.
Most memorable event experience? There are so many great memories it is hard to choose just one but on the top of the list was the 2014 Closing Ceremony in San Diego. Watching a woman carrying the flag to honor her Stage 4 terminal daughter and then them dancing together on stage, I knew I was in the right job and the right place in my life. Sadly the daughter has since then earned her pink wings but I will never forget the joy they shared that night.
You’re showing off your hometown to a friend who has never been to visit before. What’s on your must see/do/eat list? I live in San Diego! That list would be very long but if we only had one day I would start out with brunch at my favorite little place in Encinitas, then a little shopping in the Cedros District. Then we would need to take a drive down the coast for a sunset walk at Torrey Pines. We would finish the day at the harbor in Oceanside having dinner on the patio at a fun little restaurant called the Lighthouse while watching the sunset.
On event, what three things are we guaranteed to find in your bag? My Leatherman, a hair tie or clips and Burt’s Bees lip balm.
One word to describe Event 360? Family
