We’re excited to introduce this week’s Event 360 Teammate Spotlight. Enjoy a glimpse into the personal and professional life of Debbie Somers!
Position: Associate Manager, Matching Gifts
Start Year: 2004
What job did you hold right before you came to work at Event 360? I was a Production Assistant at Phonak Hearing Systems.
Was there anything in particular that brought you to Event 360? I was referred by someone who worked for Event 360, and having lost my mother to cancer, I was excited about the thought of working for a client whose focus was to eradicate cancer (in any form).
If you weren’t working at Event 360 what would you be doing? I would love to work with children, or to do investigative/research type work.
Favorite part of your job? Working with people (co-workers and participants alike) who are so passionate about a cause. I haven’t experienced the inspiration, dedication, and goodness of people on a daily basis in any other job that I’ve had.
What do you like to do in your free time? I like spending time outdoors, photography, trying new restaurants/cuisines.
Most memorable event experience? Working on the AFSP “Out of the Darkness Overnight.” Since it was a smaller project, I got to work hands-on in almost every aspect of the event from behind the scenes in donations, to registration kit fulfillment, to load-in/load-out. I worked the event from start to finish.
You’re showing off your hometown to a friend who has never been to visit before. What’s on your must see/do/eat list? I love showing friends all the great free concerts, festivals and events that happen in the summer in Chicago. I love taking friends to not only the touristy eating spots like Lou Malnati’s for pizza, but to favorite places of mine where you can get a great martini or tapas.
On event, what three things are we guaranteed to find in your bag? Leatherman, bottle of water, protein bar
One word to describe Event 360? Unprecedented
