P2P Fundraising, Without the Event

For AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s annual commemoration of World AIDS Day, we coached local beneficiaries new to peer-to-peer fundraising.

On December 1 every year, AIDS Healthcare Foundation commemorates World AIDS Day. In 2025, they wanted to expand their impact and turn this special day into an opportunity for fundraising.

The Mission

World AIDS Day is a global movement commemorated on December 1st every year to unite people in the fight against HIV and AIDS. At the forefront of this movement stands AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), who hosts initiatives worldwide to inspire action, raise awareness, and remind the global community that the HIV epidemic is far from over.

In 2025, AHF engaged Event 360 to help them launch a beneficiary teams program for World AIDS Day, in which local nonprofit organizations who are serving the HIV/AIDS community are given the opportunity to form teams and keep 100% of the funds they raise, which are additionally matched by AHF.

The Challenge

Typically, P2P fundraising campaigns have an event (a run, walk, ride, etc.) around which it coalesces. A participant taking on a physical challenge gives that person a reason to ask their friends and family for donations to support them and the cause they care about.

Although World AIDS Day is not a physical challenge, it is still an event — a date to build a fundraising campaign around. AHF selected four Southern California-based nonprofits who were serving the HIV/AIDS community and did not have the resources to create their own P2P fundraising events.

Our services for AHF’s World AIDS Day beneficiary teams program included a full website build, communications strategy and content, and full-service fundraising coaching. We worked with AHF to create program goals and coached the four beneficiary teams to recruit and fundraise for their World AIDS Day campaign.

Our P2P fundraising team developed a toolkit of fundraising resources (handbook, flyers, suggested messaging, social graphics, etc.) plus a series of workshops, a mix of in-person and virtual, that included interactive elements and takeaways to give participants the framework and inspiration needed to execute their own P2P fundraising campaign. These workshops were supplemented with weekly reporting touchpoints, monthly one-on-one check-ins, group calls with all beneficiary team captains and access to a personal expert fundraising coach.

The goal of putting together this combination of support was to help these beneficiary teams raise more money for their organizations and to develop into comfortable, successful fundraisers.

The Results

This unique pilot program gave four local organizations an opportunity to change the way they fundraise by tapping into the friends, family and networks of those registered for their teams.

Ultimately, 50 people raised more than $58,000 for 4 different beneficiaries. A generous match from AIDS Healthcare Foundation made sure that those benefitting organizations went home with double what they raised.

Three of the four teams reported raising more money through this fundraising opportunity than any other fundraising campaign

Feedback from team captains indicated their satisfaction with their organization’s successful participation:

“We haven’t done something like this before, and we raised more than what we’ve normally brought in for year end appeals. The money we have raised will make a big impact on an organization of our size. This has opened our eyes to the possibility of what we can do and will be more organized to be even more successful. Having you as a point of contact and to keep us on track has been incredibly helpful.”

“I feel so lucky to have your coaching expertise and encouragement! Fundraising is hard, and we’re doing it, and no joke I’ve noticed myself feeling braver and more confident about completely unrelated hard things lately. The support is simultaneously humbling and really empowering. Thank you so much.”
