We began our partnership with AIDS HealthCare Foundation (AHF) in 2010, transitioning their two signature events in Florida and Atlanta from 10K walks to a 5K followed by a half-day music festival, capturing a whole new audience for their mission.

The Mission

In 2010, we started our partnership with the AIDS HealthCare Foundation (AHF) to add new life to their signature events in Florida and Atlanta. We transformed these from simple walks into a vibrant mix of a 5K run/walk and a half-day music festival, bringing a fresh audience to support their cause.

The Challenge

AHF dedicates itself to providing essential support and raising awareness to fight the global HIV/AIDS epidemic. They wanted to adopt an “edu-tainment” approach to their events, combining education with entertainment to make learning about serious issues both enjoyable and engaging.

We embraced AHF’s philosophy and turned their traditional fundraising run/walk into a festive community gathering complete with multiple music acts. This reinvention has not only kept the events fresh and appealing but also keeps people coming back, year after year.

As the Florida AIDS Walk and AIDS Walk Atlanta evolved, we faced several challenges. Our extensive experience in organizing music events and managing large-scale logistics enabled us to transform these walks into major music festivals featuring top artists like Flo Rida, DNCE, Lil’ Kim, Jessie J, and Todrick Hall.

In Florida, we shifted the event from a city park to the bustling Fort Lauderdale Beach, juggling the logistics of competing with spring break crowds while minimizing our environmental impact. We sourced a vendor with a spectacular shade structure and worked through the logistics and permitting for building on the beach.

Meanwhile in Atlanta, the expansion included strengthening relationships with the event beneficiaries and developing a matching gift program, both of which significantly boosted fundraising performance!

The Results

Every year, both AIDS Walk Music Festivals are huge event builds, involving more than 49 vendors, 25 sponsors, 24 beneficiaries, plus 7 food trucks, a 65×65-foot shade structure, 40-foot stage, and detailed requirements of the headlining talent. Providing a first-rate experience is beyond imperative.  From 2021 to 2024, the Florida AIDS Walk and AIDS Walk Atlanta together attracted over 12,000 participants and raised more than $12.5 million. AHF’s unique fundraising model ensures that 100% of funds raised go directly to community-based organizations fighting the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
