At Event 360 we work hard and play hard. We travel the country going from one event to the next, and in the process we stumble upon some really great places in the cities we work. Be it a restaurant, music venue or book store (to name a few), we have found some must-see attractions and we want to share them with you.
Today Jillian Schranz, Director of Development at Event 360, shares her recent find while on the road. One of my favorite parts of my job is meeting and working with amazing organizations all across the country. From the first meeting, where I get to meet dedicated team members and learn about their mission, to being on-event to see it all come together, I’m grateful for the time I get to spend with our partners.
As a self-proclaimed foodie, dining out at new and exciting places is also a “perk” of all this business travel. I love good food, and while I’m not afraid to spend a pretty penny on the perfect meal on a truly special occasion, I’m also a busy mom pinching pennies so great food at a good price is my perfect find.
Which brings us to: The Eagle.
If you find yourself hungry in Cincinnati, you have to check this place out. It’s located in a fun little up and coming neighborhood, Over the Rhine (or OTR). Recommended to me by a co-worker (I cannot take full credit), I was blown away by the delicious food and reasonable prices. Here’s what I loved:
- The fried chicken: perfectly cooked and served with spicy honey so good you might want to drink it.
- Brown sugar bacon: crunchy, salty, sweet and spicy – I’ve had it other places, but not as well-executed as this. Don’t ask, just order it.
- Spoonbread: if I had to choose only one from their amazing list of sides, I could not pass up this cornbread served in a skillet. The nice thing is, it’s so cheap that you don’t have to choose just one – we ordered a few for the table and tried them all
- The pork sandwich: I could write a love song about this sandwich – pulled pork, sharp cheese, broccoli rabe, and hot peppers (on the side for me). It is in my top 3 sandwiches of all time. And I love sandwiches like Joey from the TV show Friends loves sandwiches, so that’s saying a lot.
I hope you find yourself in Cincinnati soon – and be sure to pop over to Graeter’s for some ice cream for dessert (another great co-worker recommendation!). If you’re in Indianapolis, I hear they have a location there as well. I plan to check it out soon. Safe travels!
