In the P2P space, many organizations spend Q4 focusing on wrapping up outdoor events and executing their year-end giving campaigns. With so many loose ends to tie up in 2018, we wanted to make sure to flag a very special day that is coming up on November 27, 2018. After the craziness of Black Friday and Cyber Monday comes Giving Tuesday, which according to the Giving Tuesday website, is a “global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration.” Nonprofits everywhere should be executing plans to maximize the impact of this very special day.

DID YOU KNOW: In 2017, Giving Tuesday resulted in more than $300M raised online by over 2.5M online donors. The mean online gift? $120.40. (Data from Giving Tuesday).

In order to quickly prep for this day, consider these four tips.

1. On social media, use the appropriate hashtags.

Capitalize on the power of social media. #GivingTuesday will be trending worldwide, so make sure that any campaign shared via social includes trending discovery hashtags related to Giving Tuesday.

2. Use a consistent voice on social media around your Giving Tuesday campaign, but create visuals and messaging that stand out!

Remember that you’re talking to people! Maintaining your social voice is especially important on days when there is lots of clutter on the airwaves. Be true to your brand voice, and don’t be afraid to create visuals or messaging that make you stand out! This will help you stay authentic to those who already know your organization and connect in a real way with those who are learning about it because of Giving Tuesday.

3. In addition to social media, take an omni-channel approach to Giving Tuesday by also incorporating an email campaign.

Drive your message home via emails to constituents. A great email includes a clear ask, solid segmentation, and demonstrates the impact of the funds raised. Curious how long it should be? Check this out.

4. Use your most dedicated constituents as brand advocates!

In addition to utilizing staff and volunteers for personal outreach around your Giving Tuesday campaign, consider arming your most dedicated constituents with language around Giving Tuesday to spread the word! (Pro tip – consider incentivizing these brand advocates!)
