We’re excited to introduce this month’s Event 360 Teammate Spotlight. Enjoy a glimpse into the personal and professional life of Cody Carroll.

Name: Cody Carroll

Position:  Digital Marketing Coordinator

Start Year:  2018

What job did you hold right before you came to work at Event 360?
I was an undergraduate student at the University of Alabama at Birmingham studying communications. While in school, I worked evenings as a Unit Support Specialist at Children’s Hospital of Alabama in the Pulmonary Care Unit. During the day, I divided my time as a Human Resources Intern at Children’s Hospital of Alabama, student at UAB and Communications Intern at the Birmingham City Council. Looking back, the schedule was exhausting, but it allowed me to understand nonprofits from a unique perspective before even graduating from college.

Was there anything specific that brought you to Event 360?
GRADUATION! I knew that I wanted to work with nonprofits. Nonprofits were what I naturally gravitated towards growing up. I was involved in a lot of charitable and service organizations, and I didn’t want that to end after college. Event 360 allows me to work with many nonprofits in the peer-to-peer fundraising space, and I enjoy my position because I get to see what works and what doesn’t across several different clients.

If you weren’t working at Event 360 what would you be doing?
I would most likely still be working at Children’s Hospital of Alabama searching for jobs that fit my passion for communications, development and nonprofits.

Favorite part of your job?
I love that I get a multi-dimensional experience. I can geek out on data, build client relationships through excellent communication and get my hands dirty at an event. I have always considered myself a curious spirit, and I love that my job allows me to explore many different avenues in the peer-to-peer fundraising space.

What do you like to do in your free time?
I have recently started to fill my time with CrossFit! It’s an outlet to push myself physically and mentally. I am currently preparing to take part in the Murph Challenge, and I am excited to see how it goes!

I like to go on adventures to find fun places to take photos! A mural, a brick wall or anything outdoors!

I also volunteer with the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Program, a program for high school rising sophomores to learn and develop their servant leadership skills. I was an alumnus in 2012, and I continue to give back volunteering as a facilitator for group development — as well as help with event social media! It’s a wonderful way to stay involved and understand how younger generations see the world!

Most memorable event experience?
I remember my first event in Newport News, Virginia for the Disabled American Veterans 5K Walk/Run. I was terrified that I would miss my alarm and not wake up in time, but thankfully I did. On event, once the national anthem started, and everyone was still and silent, it was in that moment that I realized how much work and cohesion goes into putting on an amazing event for attendees. The cause hits home for so many, and our team has the skills and experience to ensure that the passion to do good shines through the community on event day!

You’re showing off your hometown to a friend who has never been to visit before. What’s on your must see/do/eat list?
I took my boyfriend, Josh, to Birmingham two months ago. These were the items on the list:

  • You must see the Vulcan Statue that overlooks the city of Birmingham!
  • You must go hiking at Red Mountain Park and volunteer to help clear privet!
  • You must have dinner at Saw’s BBQ!

On event, what three things are we guaranteed to find in your bag?
Lip balm, sunscreen and a bottle of water.

One word to describe Event 360?
