At Event 360 we work hard and play hard. We travel the country going from one event to the next, and in the process we tumble upon some really great places in the cities we work. Be it a restaurant, music venue or book store (to name a few), we have found some must-see attractions and we want to share them with you.
Today, Stephanie Mayer, Twin Cities 3-Day Field Marketing Coordinator, tells us about one of her favorite spots in Minneapolis!
Name: Matt’s Bar (home of the original “Jucy Lucy”)
Full address: 3500 Cedar Ave S., Minneapolis, MN 55407
What makes this place worth stopping in? The “Jucy Lucy.” A cheeseburger with the cheese melted inside the meat. Two hamburger patties are sandwiched around American cheese, making a delicious, extra gooey cheeseburger.
This restaurant is considered a landmark in Minneapolis and gets rave reviews. Matt’s opened in 1954 as a neighborhood burger joint. Founder Matt Bristol explains that the “Jucy Lucy” was created when a local customer asked for two hamburger patties with a slice of cheese in the middle. Upon biting into this new, molten hot burger, he exclaimed “that’s one juicy Lucy!” Customer demand grew so quickly, they somehow left out the “i” in juicy and the “Jucy Lucy” was born.
Matt’s has been featured on the Travel Channel’s Man vs. Food and Food Wars, where they won the best tasting “Jucy Lucy” in town. President Barack Obama made a trip into Matt’s for lunch on a visit to the Twin Cities.
If you’re lucky enough to come to the Twin Cities 3-Day this year, Matt’s Bar is
just 7 miles away from our Opening Ceremony site.
