This past weekend, the Event 360 team produced our second-annual 5x5K FOR GOOD Denver event. A lean and mighty team assembled in Denver and also supported the event virtually to execute the 5x5K FOR GOOD — our COVID-fortified, contactless and app-guided challenge to run or walk up to five 5K’s in 24 hours. With picture-perfect weather and over 120 participants joining us in Denver and virtually via the Charge Running live broadcasts, the energy and enthusiasm was definitely at a Rocky Mountain high!
This year, the Denver 5x5K supported 10 local and national non-profit organizations including Children’s Tumor Foundation, GO2 Foundation, Histiocytosis Association, The Kempe Foundation, LUNGevity, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Multiple Sclerosis Association of America, NAMI Colorado, National Kidney Foundation, and Preeclampsia Foundation. Do GOODer participants raised over $6,600 for the 5x5K charity partners, who keep 100% of the funds raised for their organization(s).
One of the coolest things about the 5x5K FOR GOOD concept is that participants run (or walk) each 5K course in whatever order and at whatever time they choose. Because of this, we have the unique opportunity to spend more time with each participant — hearing their stories, gathering their feedback, and building relationships. There are also happenstance moments that make it all the more meaningful, like two participants who had met at a race two weeks prior randomly showing up at the same site at the same time and running together, and two participants learning that they were both registered for the Disney Marathon in 2022 and swapping contact information to connect while in Florida! Sometimes when you scale back the operations (like a mass group start), you find there’s more space for authentic connections to flourish.
